Our Facility

Our hospital is a full service practice offering our patients comprehensive general, emergency and specialty medicine and surgery for small animal patients. With seven doctors, we can care for everything from routine wellness and vaccination visits to complex reproductive, orthopedic, and ophthalmic surgeries. Non- traditional therapy is also in our arsenal such as Shockwave, Acupuncture and rehabilitative physical therapy.

You will find a large selection of high quality diets including Hill’s Science Diet age specific formulas and Prescription diet therapeutic foods. We also carry select Royal Canin and Purina specialty diets for allergies and other medical conditions. Our shampoos, dental care product, treats and flea medications are all carefully chosen by our veterinary staff for safety and effectiveness unlike many over the counter products which can actually harm your pet. When visiting our hospital please take a moment to look through the “ Behind the Scenes” and “Our Patients” photo albums. Most clients never get the opportunity to see how “high tech” modern veterinary medicine can be – so we created a “tour” to show you what happens in the treatment and surgical areas of our hospital. We love all our patients but we are proud to be trusted with some of the top show dogs, cats and horses in the country. Our books show Westminster winners and Vogue “feline” models not to mention some just great clients and the champions of their hearts.

Our History

The Hospital in the 1960s

Over the years Reidsville Veterinary Hospital has continued to grow in both expanded services and larger and larger clinical space.  When established by Dr. Fred Coates in 1941 RVH was a 99% farm animal practice with Dr. Coates occasionally receiving payment in produce!  In the 1970”s a second practitioner was added and by 1980 with the addition of a third doctor the practice was 50% small and 50% large animal patients.

The Hospital in the 1980s

With the changing needs of the community our practice once more required a transformation. A patient mix of 70% small animal and 30% large animal – mostly equine – was accommodated by the major addition of a greatly expanded small animal treatment and surgery room and an indoor large animal treatment facility. This specially equipped area contained a padded stall, cattle shute, hydraulic lift and padded surgical area. This addition allowed our large animal doctors to safely perform procedures on food animal patients that would be difficult or impossible in a barn setting. Our equine patients are accommodated in stocks and padded stalls allowing advanced treatment, diagnostic, hospitalization and reproductive procedures.  In 2010, our equine business moved to its own facility and became the Carolina Equine Hospital.

New Hospital built in 2011

But our growth didn’t stop there.  After the North Carolina Department of Transportation informed us they would need our location for expansion of Hwy 87, we broke ground on a brand new facility in September, 2010.  Construction was completed and we moved into our new location at 3202 Barnes Street in July of 2011.  Click hereto see our photo gallery of the construction and take a tour of the new facility.

Testimonials

Read What Our Clients Say

  • "Wow! Thanks to all the staff at Anderson Vet Clinic. I feel like you all truly love what you do! My kitty, Lola and I always have such a pleasant experience when we come in. Fortunately, it’s usually just for a check-up, but I would not leave Lola in anyone else’s hands but yours. Thank you for your caring commitment!"
